Glenbrook-Maramarua Cricket Club

The formation of the merged Glenbrook-Maramarua Cricket Club in 1999-2000 made little geographical sense but the partnership has proven a huge success on the field. The two rural clubs (Glenbrook and Maramarua) came together to ensure both survived the natural drop off in players that all clubs were going through at that time. It resulted in the club spending a brief period playing in the men’s premier competition before a successful stint in Senior A during the mid-late 2000s.

The club dropped down to Senior B after that but over the past six or seven seasons has been one of the most consistent clubs in the region based on a group of talented senior players.

Manukau City Cricket Club

The earliest records of the Club are photos dated in the 1920’s. In those days the Club was known as Manurewa Cricket and Hockey Club Inc. Located at War Memorial Park on Gibbs Road in Manurewa the Club catered for Cricket players during the summer months and Hockey players during the winter months.

In 1965 the amalgamation of the Manurewa County and the Manurewa Borough formed the Manukau City Council. The Club then adopted a trading name of Manukau City Cricket Club to remain consistent with our local council changes and to increase the player catchment area further afield from the boundaries of the Manurewa area.

Manukau City Cricket Club is now a thriving club that grew it’s number sharply in the past 12 months, and continues to drive facility and club growth for the betterment of the community.
