Pathway Philosophy

Continuous Entry and Exit Points

We understand that any identification point, is just at that point in time. Players progress at different rates and our structure caters to allow players to join or leave our programmes at any time.

Stage Before Age

Our observations of individuals are based on the stage of cricket players are developing at and not their age. Whilst the majority of players will be extended within their own age group, our programmes allow for individuals to be advanced into higher age groups at a quicker rate if we believe that is best for the individual.

Long Term Athlete Development

We follow a Long Term Athlete Development model in player development. This approach allows us to view players from a holistic lens, which means we look at all aspects of the player (technical, tactical, physical, emotional, social) to determine how best to assist them within our programmes.

Player Before Programme

Individual player needs are prioritised and are dealt with on a case by case basis.

(e) If the player, in his second or subsequent season, continues to demonstrate commitment to Counties-Manukau cricket, he/she will be treated on the same basis as Category One and Two players…. i.e. selected on merit.

CATEGORY FOUR – ELIGIBLE
